Precautions before processing PVD coating equipment:

1、 Material requirements of coated workpiece:

1. Except for special coatings, the coating materials shall be conductive; Materials that can be coated include: high alloy tool steel, high-speed steel, stainless steel, hard alloy, titanium alloy, etc.

2. As the coating generation temperature is 380-500 ℃, the material of the coated workpiece should be able to withstand the temperature of 500 ℃ without performance changes (such as volatilization, deformation, softening, etc.), and generally requires three times of high temperature tempering for heat treatment; The special low temperature (260-380 ℃) coating process can reduce the coating temperature, depending on the tempering temperature and performance requirements of the workpiece.

3. The workpiece can be demagnetized before coating.

2、 Surface requirements of coated workpiece:

1. The workpiece surface shall be bright and not subject to surface modification treatment (such as chemical plating, nitriding, blackening, TD or CVD).

2. The workpiece surface shall be free of rust, corrosion, paint, glue and rubber.

3. Workpiece surface roughness requirements: general tools, molds and spare parts shall be as smooth as possible on the premise of meeting the use requirements, and the molding surface Ra < 0.2um is appropriate.

4. Workpieces shall not be assembly parts, which shall be coated separately after being disassembled; Screws, plugs, etc. need to be completely removed.

5. The workpiece is subject to welding treatment, and the surface shall be clean without oxide layer or embedded hole. It shall be pointed out in advance to evaluate whether it is suitable for coating.

6. Before coating, provide the sketch map or drawing of the area and position of the workpiece to be coated (including which positions need to be coated, which positions cannot be coated, and which positions do not matter).

3、 Packaging and transportation:

1. High speed steel, tool steel and other workpieces shall be coated with light antirust oil before shipment to prevent the workpieces from rusting.

2. Workpieces shall be packaged independently to avoid damage during transportation, especially for workpieces with high requirements on tools and surfaces.

3. After coating high-speed steel, tool steel and other workpieces, we will also apply antirust oil (except for those with special requirements).

4、 Dimensional accuracy:

1. Our coating thickness (single side) is generally 2-5 μ m. Special process can achieve 8 μ m. The coating thickness can be accurately controlled by process, which usually does not affect the dimensional tolerance greater than 5 μ M of the workpiece accuracy.

2. If the dimensional accuracy of the product is required to be higher, please reserve allowance and communicate in advance.

5、 Coating limits:

Our coating can coat workpieces with complex shapes, but the depth width ratio (the ratio of hole width to hole depth) of the inner holes that can be coated must be greater than 1:1.

6、 Data to be provided by the customer:

1. Material grade of the coated workpiece.

2. Tempering temperature and hardness of the coated workpiece.

3. Functional surfaces to be coated.

4. For workpieces with particularly high dimensional accuracy requirements, specific accuracy requirements and reserved dimensions shall be specified.

5. The service conditions and processed materials of the coated workpiece are convenient for us to recommend appropriate coatings.
